From Lisa T the Glasgow show
Lisa and Maria wanted me to post a review of the Glasgow concert, but at this point, I'm sure all of you have read or seen what takes place at their show so no point going into that. Saying it's great is obvious. I'll just tell you about my 12 hour ordeal that day.
It started with me and my mom locating the double decker Happy Bus a couple blocks from our hotel in Edinburgh at 2:00 pm. Thank God I found these concert buses and booked two seats before our trip, because I don't know what we would have done. Transportation was confusing and chaotic to say the least. There turned out to be 5 double decker buses for Happy Bus, and 2 buses for See Tickets. It started to rain as we boarded, but no one seemed to mind. I'd say there were maybe 4 men in the entire crowd.
Despite having these coaches, we still had to walk quite a ways to Hampden Park because strangely, they do not have a parking lot! Crazy that 55,000 people or more attend this place and there's no parking. As we were getting off, my mom overhears the bus driver tell people to have fun and that she wished she was going. I had an extra ticket, so I offered it to Marie (bus driver). She didn't have any money and I told her she could just have it because it was going to be wasted. She was so excited she ran up and down the line of buses to ask her boss if she could go. She then called about a half dozen people including her kids and ex-husbands to tell them that she was seeing Take That with a couple Americans.
30 minutes later we entered at the North end of the stadium, but had to get to the South end to pick up my tickets. I was very nervous about this part and worried they would not have them, but it was a piece of cake. There was only one person ahead of me. Got the tickets, entered the stadium and tried to find our seats, but couldn't. Turned out we were on the opposite end and my mother being the loud, crazy character she is, talks them into escorting us down to the standing area and across the stadium instead of having to walk all the way around.
Then we waited. And waited. And waited. Just a word of caution. Their hotdogs are not the same as our hotdogs. The sun came out although it was pretty windy. The opening acts were good but I could have done without them. Sitting there for 5 hours is a long time to wait. We had great seats, but since the stadium was so large, they were still too far away. Thank goodness for the screens. I think we were closer in the nosebleeds at the O2 last time around. I had to fight to hold in tears when they finally appeared on the B stage which was closer to us. A very lovely two hours.
Getting back was the real ordeal. Glasgow was a jammed packed mass of humanity and cars. Since we had the bus driver with us, we didn't have to worry about them leaving without us, but it was a hike and my mom was having a hard time (she's 68 and not fit). At one point, my mom started quizzing everyone and asking "which one of those guys do you like?" She's outspoken and always draws attention to herself. It's worse when we are in foreign countries because of her American accent.
We were exhausted and after a 45 minute ride back to Edinburgh, we were hoping to be dropped off closer to our hotel then where we boarded. Instead we had to get off at a stop much further away due to a midnight breast cancer walk and roads being closed. I really thought my mom was going to have a heart attack walking uphill in the middle of the night not knowing where we were. We finally made it back to our hotel at 2:30 am.
They talk about their loyal fans, but if they only knew what their American fans go through! But yes, it was worth the massive VISA bills and the headaches.

Well I thought the day would never come but I finally got to see Take That live. I was one of a few fans from the US to make a trip to London to see them live. The day started very early . We started the que at 9am in the morning and we were in the 1st 50 people to be in line so we vertially guaranteed a good spot Of course the 1st was one of London's hottest day of the year so we were lathering sun screen all day .
The time came finally ( 4pm) that were allowed in the stadium . We all ran to the walkway between the B stage and the main stage. The main stage wa about 20 feet way .
Gary Go and James Morrison were good . They really got the people ready . Finally at 8 :30 Take That finally came on . I specifically tried to avoid all spoliers in the past mont so I would be some what surprised . One thing I did know though was that they made their appearace from the B stage but they hide in the ballons so as they come across the past right in front of me ( 2 feet ) I sneak a peak of Howard and Mark and I started screaming. Now it was starting to feel real .
The show was fantastic . The special affects were amzing . Loved the huge mechanical elephant . I mean it was huge and I especially loved when they let the boys off right in front of us. I was waving the american flag in one hand and waving to the guys in another hand .
I loved the old school medley of "boybabd songs " in the clown otfits. Especially loved when the guys rode their unicycle and bicycle in front of us . I could swear they looked right at us and smiled. I guess the American flag planted in our tank tops helped . lol
One of the best songs that I really enjoyed was "Patience " . It just sounded amazing
Relight my fire was great whips and all . I thought I would get burned from the fire but it was worth it
I could go on . I loved every song. I think it was a show that should be shared with everyone in the world . It was definatetly the "Greatest Show "
Thanks guys for making it a memorable evening . Hopefully we all get to experience it next time
