===========Take That III: Best Band Metro Article:
=======They may have asked us to never forget but there were no worries for Take That as their legions of fans helped them end the year on a high and back at the top of the charts.
With Robbie and Jason leaving the band as a threesome, there are some that have said the writing was on the wall but they’ve proved that they are back for good and here are five reasons Take That are the band of 2014.
=======Coming back stronger
As a five piece it seemed that Take That were unstoppable. A back catalogue of hits and number one albums and singles confirmed them as possibly
the greatest boy band that had ever existed. Robbie Williams may have continued to flirt with his membership of the group but it was a given that there would always be four.
Well, that was until Jason Orange announced at the beginning of the year that he didn’t want to continue. Despite his role in the band being kept open, he then officially confirmed his departure in September.
This could have knocked the group off the rails for good but they finished recording their album, named it III and had a triumphant return with a heralded performance on X Factor and then the Graham Norton Show.
========Breaking pre-order records
As the anticipation for their album III built up, it wasn’t long before Take That were re-writing the record books. Before its 1 December release, their first album
as a trio became the most pre-ordered album ever on Amazon and was their third entry into the top ten, knocking Pink Floyd off the top perch.
Not a bad effort for a group that many had thought would’ve been put out to graze.
=Straight in at number one
If any other act than Take That had pushed Band Aid 30 from the top of the charts, there could have been a national backlash against them. Being national treasures not only afforded them exemption from criticism, they were actually praised for going straight to the top with their twelfth number one single.
In doing so they became the first group to have a number one as a five, a four and a three piece.
====The tour is a sell out
If you thought that it would be easier to see Take That now that they are some twenty years into their career, then you would be wrong. After announcing a 25 date arena tour, the tickets were gone in a flash and extra dates were hastily arranged.
Having this year’s number one singles artist in Ella Henderson as support proves that being associated with Take That still has great kudos that inspires and gives artists something to aspire to.
============Generations of fans
It takes some doing to actually gain a couple of generations of fans that have tuned in to the band during one of their incarnations. Take That have now been relevant for enough time that the joy of being a ‘Thatter’ has been passed on to a new wave of fans and it looks like 2015 could well be their biggest yet.
